Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Elaris Technologies LLC collects, why, and what we do with it — across this website and our products, including SidePal.

The short version. SidePal keeps your data on your device first and syncs it to your own private account in the cloud. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and the app ships with no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Calendar, location, and motion readings — where you enable them — are used on your device and are not transmitted to us.

1. Who we are

Elaris Technologies LLC (“Elaris”, “we”, “us”) is a limited liability company organized in the United States. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at hello@elaristechnologies.com.

2. Information you give us

Account information

SidePal can be used without an account, in which case the app creates an anonymous identifier so your data has somewhere to sync. If you choose to create or connect an account, we receive an email address and a user identifier — either directly, or from Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple if you use those. If you use Sign in with Apple’s private relay, we only ever see the relay address.

Content you create in the app

This is the substance of the product: tasks, routines and daily plans, goals, milestones and check-ins, focus sessions, the scores and reasons you record for your own work, reminders, and public commitments. It is written to your device first and replicated to your private area of our database so it survives a reinstall and reaches your other devices.

Photos and images

If you attach a photo — evidence for a commitment, an image in a circle conversation, a profile picture — that image is uploaded to our file storage. Images shared into a circle are visible to the other members of that circle. Commitment cards you save go to your own photo library and are not uploaded by that action.

Circles and shared activity

Accountability circles are shared by design. When you join one, your display name and the activity you choose to post are visible to the other members of that circle. Do not put anything in a circle that you would not want those members to see.

Messages to the AI coach

When you use the AI coach, your message and the relevant context from your plans and progress are sent through our server to OpenAI, which generates the response. We send only what is needed to answer. See “Service providers” below.

Voice input

If you use voice commands, audio is transcribed by your device’s operating-system speech recognition. On iOS that is Apple’s Speech framework, and Apple may process some audio on its servers under Apple’s own privacy terms. We receive the resulting text, not the audio recording.

3. Information that stays on your device

Some permissions SidePal may ask for are used entirely on-device. We do not receive, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Calendar. Read only, to find open moments for the commitments you set. Events are not stored and never leave your device.
  • Location. A single home area that you define, used to notice when you leave it for reminders you asked for. There is no tracking and no location history, and your location never leaves your device.
  • Motion. Whether you are still, walking, or driving, checked only at the moment the app is deciding whether to interrupt you. Readings are not stored.

Every one of these is optional. Denying the permission disables that feature and nothing else.

4. Information collected automatically

  • Crash and stability diagnostics. When the app crashes, a report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics containing the error, a stack trace, and device and OS details. We use it to fix bugs.
  • Technical delivery data. Standard information required to deliver network requests, such as IP address and device type, processed by our infrastructure providers.
  • Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, a device token is stored so reminders can reach you.

This website is a static site. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.

5. How we use information

  • To operate the product and sync your data across your devices.
  • To deliver the reminders and notifications you configure.
  • To generate AI coaching responses when you ask for them.
  • To diagnose crashes, fix defects, and improve reliability.
  • To respond to you when you contact us.
  • To meet legal obligations and to protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.

We do not use your content to train machine-learning models, and we do not build advertising profiles.

6. What we never do

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not share personal information with advertisers.
  • We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs in SidePal.

7. Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to run the product. They process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:

  • Google (Firebase). Authentication, cloud database, file storage, cloud functions, crash reporting, remote configuration, and push delivery.
  • OpenAI. Generates AI coach responses from the message and context sent for that request.
  • Apple. App distribution, Sign in with Apple, push notification delivery, and on-device speech recognition.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others. If the business is ever sold or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that transaction; this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise.

8. Storage, location, and retention

Your content is stored on your device and in our cloud database, which is operated on infrastructure in the United States. If you use SidePal from outside the United States, your information is transferred there.

We keep your content for as long as your account exists. Crash reports are retained on a rolling basis by our provider. Some data — AI conversation history, coaching caches, and app preferences — is stored only on your device and is lost if you delete the app, with no cloud copy.

9. Security

Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account by server-side rules, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers. Note that SidePal is not end-to-end encrypted: we hold the keys to our own databases and can technically access stored content, though we only do so where necessary to operate the service or where legally required. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your choices and rights

  • Permissions. Camera, photos, microphone, speech, calendar, location, motion, and notifications can each be granted or revoked at any time in your device settings.
  • Access and export. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction. Most of your content is editable directly in the app.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and the data associated with it. Write to us at hello@elaristechnologies.com and we will action it.
  • Objection and restriction. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.

11. Children

SidePal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and we will give notice in the app or by email before a material change takes effect.

13. Contact us
